This blog is a personal blog that began in January 2006 under the name “Crux of the Matter.” While there have been a couple of long breaks — due to health issues — it was reactivated in August, 2018 as “Crux of the Matter 2.0” or “http://cruxofthematter2.blog.” However, while it used to be about both education and politics, given the tension and hostility in politics today, as of January 2019, it is only related about educational matters.

Sandy Crux is the blogger. She is a retired educator who has taught at every level of the education system, from elementary to teacher graduate education in two Southern Ontario universities. She received her Ph.D in educational psychology and curriculum from the University of Toronto at OISE in the 1980s. She retired in the early 2000s, although continues to give teachers and parents advice on learning strategies — for teachers that includes special education methods and strategies that can be effective in a whole classroom context.
